RE: APPOINTMENT OF WELD COUNTY FAIR BOARD MEMBERS .
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, there are vacancies existing in the Weld County
Fair Board, and
WHEREAS, the following persons have been recommended to the
Board for the terms designated below, to-wit:

WHEREAS, after consideration of the appointees recommended,
the Board of County Commissioners has agreed that in the future,
the geographic areas involved should be considered more carefully,
and the Fair Board will be informed of this by letter, and
WHEREAS , it has further been agreed by the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the aforementioned
individuals should be appointed as Members to the Weld County
Fair Board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Com-
missioners of Weld County, Colorado that the appointees referred
to above, be, and hereby are, approved for the terms so designated.
The above and foregoing Resolution was , on motion duly made
and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 24th day of
October, A.D. , 1977.

SUBJECT: Fair Board Appointments
A nomination committee of the Fair Board, consisting of Harvey
Green, Dr. E. H. Scheel and Dave Gustafson, has presented eighteen
(18) candidates for the Fair Board members to vote upon. As a result
of the poll the candidates are listed according to the results of the
popular ballot. The results are submitted to you for use in making
the Commissioner appointments.
The appointments necessary are seven (7) for terms to expire
October 31 , 1980, and one (1 ) for the remaining two year term of
Alvin Jones appointment until October 31 , 1979. Alvin has moved
from the community to Holly, Colorado.
Will you please attempt to act on these names at one of your
earliest meetings so we can proceed with the schedule for the annual
meeting of the Fair Board on November 7th.
The eight appointments need to be included among those who will
attend the annual meeting.

Dear Mr. Fuller:
The Board of Weld County Commissioners, on this date, accepted the
Fair Board's recommendations for 1977 appointments to vacancies on
' that board. The Board of County Commissioners understands that the
) Fair Board is not subject to the geographical apportionment prescribed
by the Home Rule Charter. It is, however, the desire of this Board
I1that boards which make policy in matters concerning all of Weld County
should endeavor to equalize representation from all areas of the county.
It is our concern that only four of the 21 members of the Fair Board
: come from southern Weld County, compared to eight from Greeley, five
from Eaton, and four from other northern county areas. There are no
representatives on the board from any communities west of Greeley.
: It is the wish of this Board of County Commissioners that further
recommendations for appointments to the Fair Board take these facts
into consideration, and attempt to correct this disparity in
representation the next time you make recommendations for appointment
to the Fair Board.
