RE: ACTION OF BOARD CONCERNING WAIVER OF TEN-DAY WAITING PERIOD FOR
CONSIDERATION AND INVESTIGATION OF BID #B1300014, WELDING
GENERATOR - DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Department of Purchasing has requested waiver of the ten-day waiting
period for Bid Request #B1300014, Welding Generator, for the Department of Public Works, in
order to purchase the equipment in 2012 and avoid a fifty percent (50%) price increase, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners deems it advisable to waive the
ten-day waiting period for said bid.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, that the ten-day waiting period for Bid Request #61300014, Welding
Generator, for the Department of Public Works, be, and hereby is, waived.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the low bid from KD Technologies, Ltd.,
in the amount of$12,814.69, be, and hereby is, accepted.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 3rd day of December, A.D., 2012.

SUBJECT: Welding Generator, Bid 81300014
The Public Works Department recommends awarding the bid to KD Technologies for one Lincoln Vantage
400-K2410-3 Welding Generator at a cost of$12,814.69. This welding generator comes with a diesel engine,
which is preferred. The Miller EcoPro 400-MIL907426001 welding generator which is $571.03 cheaper is
equipped with a gas engine.
The emergency approval is due to the fact that the welding generator must be ordered in 2012 in order to avoid
a 50% price increase. This welding generator is on the 2013 Equipment Replacement List and a total of
$12,000 has been budgeted for the purchase.
