It was brought to my attention by Commissioner Rademacher that the south bound lane of WCR 9.5,just north of CR 28, is having some failures. Although Weld County does not have jurisdiction of this section of roadway, we have partnered with the Town of Mead (who does have ownership) on the WCR 28 Project and we may be able to incorporate the repair work into the WCR 28 Contract. The WCR 28 Contract is administered by Weld County which requires an executed change order for any work outside of the original contract. What options exist for the Board? (Include consequences,impacts, costs, etc. of options) We have received a cost estimate from the WCR 28 contractor to remove and replace the failed area on WCR 9.5. The attached estimate is $22,954 to complete the repair work for an area approximately 13' x 325'. The estimate is comparable with costs associated with patching an area of this size. We have discussed the estimate with the Town of Mead and they have agreed to fund 100% of the repair work with Town funds and Change Order No. 1 will have no cost to Weld County. The schedule requires the contractor to complete the total project prior to the opening of the Mead High School which is mid-August; therefore, there is not much time left to avoid remobilization costs or conflicts with school traffic. Recommendation to the Board: I would recommend the County approve Change Order No. I. If approved, it will be placed on the Consent Agenda for the Chair's signature.
