Noble Energy is partnering with the County and Weld County School District RE-1 to construct the fueling system and storage facility for the school buses, as well as providing the 17.21% local match for this grant application, which is approximately $107,264. The CMAQ funds available are in the amount of$516,000. The total available funding is $623,264. Transwest Trucks bid was in the amount of $154,990 per bus for a total of $619,690 and Colorado/West Equipment Inc. bid was in the amount of $148,121 per bus for a total of $592,484. Public Works is recommending the low bid be awarded to Colorado/West Equipment in the amount of $592,484 for four CNG buses. You may recall at your September 10th meeting the School District requested extending approval of the bid to September 24, 2012 for consideration of using the bid saving towards the purchase of a fifth school bus. The School Board met on September 19th and voted not to pay for the $117,341 difference to purchase the fifth bus. Therefore, the request is to approve the bid as is for four CNG school buses to low bid. CDOT has provided concurrence of award.
