The Public Works Department sent out a Request for Proposals for design services for WCR 49 Extension
Project. Seven(7)proposals were received on March 16, 2012.
Five individuals from Weld County (Pat Persichino, Wayne Howard, Michael Bedell, Elizabeth Relford,
Dave Bauer) scored the proposals following the typical procedures of a qualifications-based selection
process. Four consultants scored the highest and were selected for interviews.
After the interview process, the selection committee agreed to enter into contract negotiations with Atkins
North America Inc. The Public Works Department and Atkins North America Inc. have arrived at a final
scope of work and fee agreement, and the consultant has signed an Agreement for Professional Services.
It is my recommendation to award the design contract to Atkins North America Inc. for a total amount of
$774,252.00. The Department has worked with this consultant in the past, on the WCR 2 project east of
Interstate 76 with Adams County, and feel they are fully capable and an excellent choice. The design is
planned to commence in June, 2012 and be completed approximately one year later.
