Re: Notice of transfer of certain contractual rights and obligations(the"Contract") from the Colorado
State Forest Service ("CSFS")to the State of Colorado's Department of Public Safety("DPS")
Dear Sir or Madam:
As you may know, effective July 1, 2012 the wildfire management and prescribed fire responsibilities
("Firefighting Functions") historically performed by CSFS at Colorado State University were moved by act of
legislation HB 12-1283 to the Wildland Fire Management section of DPS. Your organization has an agreement
with CSFS pursuant to which CSFS performed Firefighting Functions which are now the responsibility of DPS.
The non-Firefighting Functions such as forest management and forest research aspects of the CSFS will remain
at CSU and will continue to be the responsibly of CSFS and we expect that CSFS and DPS will work with you to
enter into separate agreements with respect to each of their functional areas. Until this happens, I wanted to let
you know that your contacts at DPS with respect to the Firefighting Functions are as follows:
