Dear Sean,
We are writing to notify you that state auditors have identified the 19th Judicial District
Courts and Probation phone expenses as being six to seven times greater than those of
similar-sized districts in the state.As a result,money has been allocated through capital
improvements for the District to install a Voice Over IP(VOIP)phone system in FY
2013.We were notified late last week that contracts are being drawn up to have this type
of system installed in October 2012.
We anticipate there will be challenges to installing this system,which will operate
through our existing computer network,particularly in the Court House(901 Ninth
Avenue).We have been told installation will require access to our data network rooms in
each of the buildings.These rooms have shared equipment with the County.The
installation will be overseen by our computer technician,Julie Carter,who has worked
with Weld County IT personnel for many years.We also anticipate other issues may arise
as the installation proceeds,so we appreciate the ability to work closely with County
personnel to quickly resolve any issues that arise.
All of our phone numbers will be changing as a result of the migration to VOIP.As soon
as those are available we will provide a full listing to you.
We want to thank you for having provided phone services to the District.Through the
years your staff has been friendly,accommodating and helpful even in some of the most
challenging situations.We hope you will understand why this transition is taking place
and help us in moving to this new technology.
