State of Colorado, Weld County Clerk & Recorder
RE: APPOINTMENT OF WELD COUNTY COMMISSIONER FOR DISTRICT 1
WHEREAS, there is a vacancy in the Board of County
Commissioners due to the untimely death of Weld County Commissioner
Edward Dunbar; and,
WHEREAS , Section 3-15 of the Weld County Home Rule
Charter requires that the Weld County Council appoint a person
to fill that vacancy ; and,
WHEREAS , Section 13-8(3) of the Weld County Home Rule
Charter requires that such appointee be of the same political party
as the previous officer; and,
WHEREAS, the Weld County Council has ascertained that
Weld County Commissioner Edward Dunbar was a democrat ; and,
WHEREAS , the Weld County Council has held interviews
with democrats who are qualified to serve as a Weld County Commis-
sioner for District 1 ; and,
WHEREAS, from such interviews the Weld County Council
has ascertained that Lydia Dunbar is the best person
to be appointed to serve as Weld County Commissioner from District
1 ;
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED, that Lydia Dunbar
be, and is, by this Resolution, appointed to serve as Weld County
Commissioner for District 1 , effective this date and until the next
general election .
The above and foregoing Resolution was , on Motion duly
made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 5th
day of December , 1978 .
