My name is Rodney Steely, President of Colorado Crude Carriers, Inc. 115 E 4th St. Rd Greeley,
CO 80631, 970-339-9105.
I am sure you may have already possibly had some input on the new redesigned intersection at
WCR 49 & WCR 54.
While it is an improvement, we are getting multiple concerns at the RR crossing. Our trucks
haul crude oil up and down WCR 49 and they stop for the tracks heading both directions North
and South bound. We still do not have much room on the shoulder with bridge just North of RR
crossing to pull off safely heading South. And the danger of South bound traffic not always
paying attention to their surroundings, are passing our trucks on the left hand side. Which is
very dangerous with the new intersection being just South of tracks. I have personally
witnessed this aggressiveness of motorists in my own vehicle, it is a problem and I am fearful
we are going to have more serious accidents if we don't address the RR crossing. As well to
insure East & West bound vehicles are paying attention.
I believe that a traffic signal would be very beneficial at the RR crossing like the one on Highway
34 East of Kersey. The tracks on WCR 49, I know are not used much anymore, but if they were
to start using the line we believe for the future of things to come it would be a positive for
traffic flow and very definitely a positive for safety.
Please consider my concerns and let me know if I may be of assistance in this matter.
Respectfully,
Rodney Steely, President
