Dear Mr. Pizzato:
Thank you for your recent letter expressing concern over the construction of
Platte River's electric transmission line along Weld County Road 3.
I can understand your feeling about the line. Despite all that we and the
electrical manufacturers can do to improve the appearance of electric transmission
facilities, few people regard them as attractive, except by comparison with the
earlier designs. In the recent controversy over the Loveland-Longmont line most
of the witnesses heard were suggesting that the line be located along various
alternative routes, as long as they were distant from the speaker's property.
As you know from following that controversy before the Larimer-Weld COG, there
were several alternative routes studied. In addition to Platte River's public
hearing in April , the Larimer-Weld COG had an extended public hearing in Septem-
ber and made its formal recommendation at the October meeting. This effort was
undertaken by the COG as part of its public responsibility and in recognition
that the line was needed for energy supply and would soon have to be constructed.
The Larimer-Weld COG's recommendation was that Platte River's transmission line
be located on poles within county road rights-of-way on Larimer County Road 11
and Weld County Road 3 wherever possible. After much thought, this routing
recommendation was subsequently adopted by Platte River's Board of Directors.
The County Commissioners for each County have executed the necessary right-of-
way agreements and construction of the line will follow these county roads for
nearly all of their length between Loveland and Calkins Lake.
I know this decision will come as a disappointment to you. It may be of some
small comfort to you and your family to know that the line will be installed
down the east side of Weld County Road 3, across from your house, and that
Platte River will make every effort to locate its poles so as to cause the least
inconvenience to you and your neighbors. We do not expect that you will experi-
ence any television or radio interference after the line has been energized,
but if you do Platte River will undertake to correct it promptly.
Sincerely,
PLAT/Fr-RIVER PO/ER AUTH ITY

Dear Mr. Hamilton:
There has been considerable comments made that the Platte River Power
Authority has been granted permission to run their proposed power line
down Road #3 beyond the proposal made at the September 6 board meeting.
I have written many letters to you and to others on the board that I am
opposed to this but am not opposed to this power line on the west end
of my property.
The asthetic value of my property will be ruined with a power line at my
front door. . . .the static and other electrical effect it will have_in my
home can not be thereafter changed. . .the effects of electric fallout on my
family. . .the effects that a thunderstorm can have in with these wires and
then again on our home are immeasurable. . ..the effects of whit', storms and
a fallen wire.
Since this personally effects me. . .my family. .my friends. . .my neighbors,
I hope and pray that you will not permit the power line to pass by my
front door, which is what I understand is now proposed.
I'm sure you would not want it to be in your front yard and I certainly
don't either.

Your help and cooperation is appreciated.
