Johnson, Chairman 4 Home Rule Charter Commission P 1516 Hospital Road Greeley, Colo. Dear Sir: Inasmuch as ten per cent of the population of Weld County is sixty years old or over, and inasmuch as the elderly pay eight per cent of the taxes, one third of the doctor bills and one fourth of the hospital bills which are incurred in Weld County, we therefore recommend that a Commission on Aging be included in any Dome Rule Charter proposal which you and the Charter Commission may propose. We recommend a Commssion on Aging whose right and duty shall be to act as advocates for the elderly before all bodies which enact laws or regulations which affect the elderly or which appropriate monies for services for the elderly. We recommend that the members of said Commission on Aging shall be sixty years old or over, and that they shall as fairly as possible • represent the elderly population of Weld County. We strongly urge that the members of the Commission on Aging be not appointed but elected by popular vote in regularly scheduled elections. Very truly yours) / .A.
