RE: REGULATING, WARNING AND GUIDING TRAFFIC DURING THE TEMPORARY
CLOSURE OF COUNTY ROAD 54 BETWEEN COUNTY ROADS 47 AND 49, AND
COUNTY ROAD 54.25 BETWEEN COUNTY ROADS 49 AND 53, FOR NINE (9)
WEEKS, FOR INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 42-4-106(6)(a), C.R.S.:
"...local authorities, with their respective jurisdiction may, for the
purpose of road construction and maintenance, temporarily close
to through traffic or to all vehicular traffic any highway or portion
thereof for a period not to exceed a specified number of work days
for project completion and shall, in conjunction with any such road
closure establish appropriate detours or provide for an alternative
routing of the traffic affected...", and
WHEREAS, the Board, pursuant to said statute and upon the basis of traffic and
personal investigations, has determined that conditions exist which make it necessary to
temporarily close to through traffic and to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic on said
County roads by posting signs thereon.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, deems it necessary to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic on
County roads and any intersections thereof, and it hereby authorizes and orders the posting of
such traffic control devices as shall be reasonably necessary to regulate, warn and/or guide
traffic thereon for the safety of the general public and that said traffic control devices shall
conform to the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, does declare and establish that County Road 54, between County Roads 47 and 49,
and County Road 54.25, between County Roads 49 and 53, be temporarily closed, with said
closure being effective June 11, 2012, for approximately nine (9) weeks, in order for Mountain
Constructors, Inc., to complete intersection improvements, and further, that standard official
traffic control devices shall be erected at said closure giving notice of the restrictions.

SUBJECT: BOCC Agenda Item—Road Closure
Mountain Constructors is requesting to close WCR 54 between WCR 47 and WCR 49, and close
WCR 54.25 between WCR 49 and WCR 53 from June 11, 2012, to August 10,2012.
The ADT on WCR 54 between WCR 47 and WCR 49 is 1,108, taken in 2010, and the ADT on
WCR 54 between WCR 49 and WCR 53 is 811, taken in 2010. Both sections of roads are paved.
WCR 49 will remain open for this project.
Attached is the traffic detour diagram.
