WELD COUNTY COUNCIL
September 16, 2013
The Weld County Council met in regular session in full conformity with the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, Monday, September 16, 2013, at the Weld County Administration Building,
Greeley, CO at 6:30 pm.
Ei ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by Councilman Don Mueller and on roll
call the following members were present, constituting a quorum of members thereof:
Councilman Don Mueller
Councilwoman Marge Klein
Councilman Brett Abernathy
Councilman Bernard C. Kinnick
Councilman Jeffrey Hare
Also present: Karleen Watson, Council Secretary.
• APPROVAL OF AGENDA: In consideration of the recent flood warnings, Councilwoman
Klein made a motion to approve the September 16, 2013 Agenda with the change of the
meeting time to be 6:00 pm. The motion was seconded by Councilman Abernathy and carried.
• APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Councilwoman Klein moved to approve the July 15, 2013
Minutes. The motion was seconded by Councilman Abernathy. Councilman Kinnick made a
motion to approve the August 19, 2013 Minutes. The motion was seconded by Councilman
Abernathy and carried.
• REVIEW PROGRAM: The presenter scheduled for tonight's meeting was Mike Wallace,
Director of Public Safety Communications. Mr. Wallace asked that his presentation be
deferred to the Council's next meeting due to the flood recovery efforts.
The Council discussed and reviewed the efforts of the Office of Emergency Management
headed by Director Roy Rudisell. All council members felt it was extremely organized and
impressive, as well as very well -coordinated. Councilman Hare stated that the shelter at the
Greeley Recreation Center has now become the Red Cross Station and the next step will be
the process of transitional housing for those displaced citizens. He stated that it is possible
that temporary sewage lines may be put in to place.
The United Way of Weld County and the Greeley/Weld Foundation are coordinating their
efforts for recovery. Citizens can dial 211 to donate to flood relief and recovery.
PUBLIC COMMENT: None at this time.

NEW BUSINESS:
Review Program — October 21, 2013 review program scheduled is Eric Berglund/Upstate
Colorado. Council secretary will contact Mike Wallace to invite him to speak also.
Coordinator Reports: Missile site open house was cancelled.
NAIRA banquet attended by Councilman Abernathy, award to Sheriff Office regarding the
lawsuit over gun legislation.
Upcoming Meetings/Invitations: United Way breakfast 10/9/13.
ADJOURNMENT: By acclamation, the meeting was adjourned at 6:18 p.m. to be re -
adjourned.
The meeting was brought to order by President Mueller and Councilman Abernathy made a
motion to reconvene. The motion was seconded by Councilman Hare and carried.
Councilman Abernathy suggested that the Weld County Facebook page should have a post
giving recognition and commendation to the Weld County EOM, Board of County
Commissioners, their staff, the Sheriffs Office and the Colorado National Guard and others
involved in the proper response to flood recovery.
He also suggested that meeting locations, times and speakers on the Weld County Facebook
page.
The Weld County Council would like to commend the Weld County EOM, Board of County
Commissioners and their staff, the Sheriffs Office and the Colorado National Guard and all
others involved in the proper response to flood recovery. The Council will have its regular
monthly meeting on October 21, 2013 beginning at 6:30 pm at the Weld County Administration
Building. Bruce Barker and Robert Ruyle will be presenting on the 51st state initiative.
