Dear Commissioner Conway:
Though I am not directly impacted, as a father of daughters and granddaughters I want to voice my
concern at the way the Weld County Commission recently decided to cease providing Plan B emergency
contraception for low-income women at county Title X family planning clinics.
Not only is the policy itself woefully ill-considered, the way in which the Commissioners blind -sided the
public, failing to deal with the issue in the full light of day, is simply unacceptable.
That the policy is based on misinformation is undeniable. Plan B is not an abortive agent. It is nothing
more than a powerful form of birth control.
It is also undeniable that the Commissioners' decision was based on extremist ideology rather than
scientific fact.
Therefore, it seems only reasonable that Weld County commissioners reconsider their gut -based
reasoning and rescind their ill-considered action without delay.
