Hello:
I just wanted to contact you about a flyer I just saw pertaining to a new outdoor gun range
to be located in north Thornton. I am sorry I got this info too late to attend the county
hearing. I have at least 7 people in my area who strongly support this effort and I imagine
there are many, many more shooters in Westminster who would also support this effort. It
seems impossible to join any private shooting clubs because they all require a sponsor to
join. So unless you know someone to sponsor you, there is no hope of joining. Right now, 7
of us belong to an open club located in Colorado Springs with 2 ranges. One is on the
northeast side of Colorado Springs and the other located in Fountain.
So our minimum drive time is over 2 hours to get to the closer of the two. By the time we
add in our gas costs for travel along with the annual membership fees, this is no real
bargain in cost or time but it's what we must do in order to practice with our firearms.
I was absolutely thrilled to see the notice of your meeting to discuss a sorely needed range
in our area. Can you please put me on your email list for updates on the subject?
On another note, I have seen some information about Weld County wanting to join the other
Northeast counties who want to become a new state. Virtually, any conservative I have spoken
with is in full support of this and we all intend to vote in favor of this movement when it
becomes a ballad issue. I wish you noting but success in your endeavor.
