HomeMy WebLinkAbout780479.tiff RESOLUTION RE: SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE COUNTY OF WELD, STATE OF COLORADO AN AMENDMENT TO PARAGRAPH (B) (2) (f) OF SECTION 4-2 OF ARTICLE IV OF THE HOME RULE CHARTER FOR WELD COUNTY, COLORADO DELETING THE REQUIREMENT THAT ANY PERSON EMPLOYED WITH WELD COUNTY, EXCEPT AN ELECTED OFFICIAL, WHO SEEKS ELECTION TO A PARTISAN PUBLIC OFFICE, MUST REQUEST A LEAVE OF ABSENCE, WITHOUT PAY, IMMEDIATELY AFTER ANNOUNCEMENT OF HIS CANDIDACY. WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, the Board feels that it is in the best interests of Weld County that a certain provision of the Home Rule Charter for Weld County, Colorado be amended, and WHEREAS, Section 30-11-506 , CRS 1973 and Section 17-1 of Article XVII of the Home Rule Charter requires that a resolution be adopted by the Board submitting the proposed amendment to the qualified electors. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Com- missioners of Weld County, Colorado : Section 1. At the next general election to be held on November 7, 1978 , there shall be submitted to the qualified electors of the County of Weld, State of Colorado, for their approval or rejection the following amendment to the Home Rule Charter for Weld County, Colorado, to-wit: Paragraph (B) (2) (f) of Section 4-2 of Article IV of the Home Rule Charter for Weld County, Colorado, is amended to read: (f) No employee shall, during working hours, engage in any political activity. Each elector voting at said election and desirous of voting for or against said amendment shall cast his vote as provided by law either "Yes" or "No" on the proposition: "An amendment to paragraph (B) (2) (f) of Section 4-2 of Article IV of the Home Rule Charter for Weld County, Colorado deleting the requirement that any person employed with Weld County, except an 780479 //F` #/ �1 AO ran elected official, who seeks election to a partisan public office, must request a leave of absence, without pay, immediately after announcement of his candidacy. " The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 13th day of September , A.D. , 1978.
