Dear Commissioners,
The Town Board of the Town of Eaton has instructed me
to write to you regarding the requests for Conservation
Trust Fund monies to be distributed in 1979 .
We have just recently secured a lease from the Union
Pacific Railroad of a piece of land where the local depot
was situated until U. P. decided to raze it last year.
We also have leased the land on either side of the depot
site (along U. S. Highway 85) over the past few years and
have spent a good deal of money for sprinkler systems and
landscaping to improve those areas. in 1979 we plan to do
the same with the depot site so that we can have a
continuous strip of landscaped area along the Wet side of
the highway. We estimate cost of this project including
sprinkler system, seeding, and purchase of trees and shrubs
at $4,700. The Town will allocate $2 ,500 of it' s own
Conservation Trust Fund money along with $1,000 out of
General Fund monies for the project. We are requesting
$1,200 from the County to complete the funding.
