Dear Weld County Planning Commission,
I am submitting to you with the upmost respect a request that the following issues be addressed and
mitigated during the project proposed by Bruce Sandau and A&W Water referred to as case number
USR12-0065.
I am hoping these requests will be considered and implemented as a neighborly gesture by Mr. Sandua
and A&W Water as well as be enforced by adding it as a requirement for this project. With the
anticipation of over 100 semi -trucks per day being routed to my neighborhood in addition to the other
traffic from the similarly related oil and gas projects, I think the following could go a long way to
reducing the impact on our quality of life we used to enjoy.
1. Noise and General Disturbance
Temporary sound barriers should be erected between the site and the three residential
properties to the south and south-west of the site. This could easily be done and is often a
normal practice during similar projects such as drilling.
2. Designated Haul Route
Designate County Road 35 as the primary haul route for the water trucks. County Road 35
to the north has three residential addresses which includes an operating feedlot. County
Road 40 should be avoided to the west because there are at least a dozen residential
addresses and none of those are also businesses such as a feedlot. Over half of those
houses may include small children. County Road 35 also is wider and has better lines of sight
as well as already bearing significant amounts of traffic.
3. Driving Practices
A&W Water drivers should be mindful of their surroundings and not be allowed downshifting
during approaches to intersections and the idling of trucks while filling with water.
4. Expiration of Water Loading Dock
The project should expire after a year or other reasonable time frame not to exceed 2 years. For
this water loading dock to operate beyond a year, would severely and unfairly impact the value
of my property and the quality of my life.
