May 15, 2013 —Weld County Employee Health & Fitness Day
WHEREAS, National Employee Health & Fitness Day was established in 1982 to
support and inspire employees to be their best in mind, body, and sprit and the day is
focused on improving the health and well-being of our most valued resources; our
employees, and
WHEREAS, the Weld County Safety and Wellness Program has been established to
help educate and encourage our employees to lead and live a healthy lifestyle. It is
known that 48% of our current health care costs are modifiable, and with effective
and targeted interventions, we can reduce our population risks and health care costs.
Weld County's Safety & Wellness program has successfully demonstrated a positive
return on investment by a margin of $2.27:1, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners calls upon all employees in Weld County
Government to actively participate in their health and well-being by being physically
active, eating a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, reducing stress and
eliminating tobacco use, and
WHEREAS, events are planned throughout the month of May for Weld County
employees to learn how to improve their overall health, wellness, productivity, and
quality of life.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it hereby resolved that the Board of Weld County
Commissioners does hereby proclaim the month of May, 2013, to be Weld County
Employee Health & Fitness Month, and Wednesday, May 15, 2013, to be Employee
Health & Fitness Day, in and for Weld County.
