MEMORANDUM
TO: Clerk to the Board DATE: December 21, 2012
FROM: Janet Carter, Public Works
SUBJECT: Installation of Stop Signs on CR 17
Public Works requests approval to install a traffic regulatory sign (Stop sign R1-1) at the intersection of CR 17
with CR 10. North bound traffic would be stopped on CR 17 at CR 10.
The traffic count for CR 17 was taken in March 2012 with an AADT of 121. The traffic count for CR 10 was
taken in March 2012 with an AADT of 88; both county roads are gravel roads. The Manual of Uniform Traffic
Control Devices (MUTCD) section 2B.04 suggests that stop signs should be placed at an intersection of a less
important road with a main road where application of the normal right-of-way rule would not be expected to
provide reasonable compliance with the law. Public Works recommends that traffic be stopped on CR 17 & CR
10 in the North bound direction.
