RE: APPROVE APPOINTMENT OF CLAUD HANES TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
HIGH PLAINS LIBRARY DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the High Plains Library District has been created by action of six municipalities,
Weld County School District RE -8, and the County of Weld, of the State of Colorado, and
WHEREAS, a vacancy currently exists on the High Plains Library District Board, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 24-90-110(4)(a) C.R.S., the selection committee for the
High Plains Library District Board of Trustees has recommended Claud Hanes be appointed to said
board as a trustee, and
WHEREAS, the Board deems it advisable to appoint Claud Hanes to said board, with a term
to expire December 31, 2014.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the appointment of Claud Hanes to the High Plains Library District Board of
Trustees be, and hereby is, ratified.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by
the following vote on the 22nd day of May, A.D., 2013.

In accordance with the state law, a Nominating Committee composed of one member from
each creating jurisdiction must select library district board members; and then each jurisdiction
must ratify the selection by resolution. Due to the resignation of John Cordova, Claud Hanes
of Eaton was nominated to represent Area 5 — Ault, Eaton, Pierce and Nunn. Claud Hanes is
to complete a partial term which will expire on December 31, 2014 on the High Plains Library
District Board of Trustees.
Since it is necessary for all member jurisdictions to ratify the nomination of the committee, a
sample resolution is provided. You are encouraged to consider the resolution as soon as
possible so the Library District is not without full representation on the Board. A copy of your
resolution should be sent to me at the High Plains Library District, 2650 W 29th Street, Greeley,
CO, 80631, once acted upon by your Board. Any governmental unit which does not respond
to the request to ratify within sixty (60) days is deemed to have assented to the appointment of
the nominee.
