RE: REFERRAL TO WELD COUNTY ELECTORS AT THE COUNTY ELECTION TO BE
HELD ON NOVEMBER 5, 2013, THE QUESTION OF WHETHER TO PURSUE THE
CREATION OF A 51ST STATE
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, Section 15-4 of the Weld County Home Rule Charter authorizes the Board,
by Resolution, to submit a ballot question to the registered voters of Weld County in the form of
a referendum, and
WHEREAS, the Board has been in communication with commissioners of at least nine
other Colorado counties who, in concert with the Board, have discussed the creation of a
51st state, and
WHEREAS, in late July, 2013, the Board held four meetings in Weld County to discuss
the concept of creating a 51st state, and
WHEREAS, in all four meetings, citizens asked the Board to put the matter to a
countywide vote of registered voters at the November 5, 2013, election, and
WHEREAS, being the "Governing Body" of Weld County, as that term is defined in
C.R.S. § 1-1-104(18), and pursuant to said Charter Section 15-4, the Board desires to call for a
Weld County election on November 5, 2013, for registered electors of Weld County to consider
the following question:
QUESTION:
Shall the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, in concert with the
county commissioners of other Colorado counties, pursue those counties
becoming the 51st state of the United States of America?
WHEREAS, that each registered voter at the election and desirous of voting may cast a
vote of either "Yes" or "No" to said question.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, that the Board hereby calls for a Weld County election on
November 5, 2013, for registered electors of Weld County to consider the following question:

Shall the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, in concert with the
county commissioners of other Colorado counties, pursue those counties

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that each registered voter at the election

The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 19th day of August, A.D., 2013.

If this is going to end up on the ballot, how does Greeley
opt out? Can we have wording that if the vote within the
City of Greeley does not support the initiative Greeley
can opt out of this insanity?
I was born and raised in Greeley,and i am quite
embarrassed at how juvenile this all seems, Being a sore
loser and wanting to run off and make your own state is
not the right way to go about things, the whole country is
laughing at us.

When I got divorced 40 years ago the papers said
Irreconcilable differences Im thinking that Is about what
the division between city and rural is all over America not
just here in Co.. Add to that Taxation without
representation Only the population centers are now
being represented because that is where all the numbers
are along with all the voting for handouts.
Keep our Money out of the people who does not want us
in there counties Drilling. They dont want the drilling so
they dont need our money
Our state is different than California. If Denver wants to
be like them then make city laws. The government is
getting too big and just because a law works out in a big
city doesnt mean the rest of the state benefit.

NOTICE
RE: REFERRAL TO WELD COUNTY ELECTORS AT THE COUNTY ELECTION TO BE
HELD ON NOVEMBER 5, 2013, THE QUESTION OF WHETHER TO PURSUE THE
CREATION OF A 51ST STATE
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, Section 15-4 of the Weld County Home Rule Charter authorizes the Board,
by Resolution, to submit a ballot question to the registered voters of Weld County in the form of
a referendum, and
WHEREAS, the Board has been in communication with commissioners of at least nine
other Colorado counties who, in concert with the Board, have discussed the creation of a
51st state, and
WHEREAS, in late July, 2013, the Board held four meetings in Weld County to discuss
the concept of creating a 51st state, and
WHEREAS, in all four meetings, citizens asked the Board to put the matter to a
countywide vote of registered voters at the November 5, 2013, election, and
WHEREAS, being the "Governing Body" of Weld County, as that term is defined in
C.R.S. § 1-1-104(18), and pursuant to said Charter Section 15-4, the Board desires to call for a
Weld County election on November 5, 2013, for registered electors of Weld County to consider
the following question:
QUESTION: Shall the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, in concert with
the county commissioners of other Colorado counties, pursue those counties becoming
the 51st state of the United States of America?
WHEREAS, that each registered voter at the election and desirous of voting may cast a
vote of either "Yes" or "No" to said question.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, that the Board hereby calls for a Weld County election on
November 5, 2013, for registered electors of Weld County to consider the following question:
QUESTION: Shall the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, in concert with
the county commissioners of other Colorado counties, pursue those counties becoming
the 51st state of the United States of America?
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that each registered voter at the election
and desirous of voting may cast a vote of either "Yes" or "No" to said question.
