Room 208, Denver, Colorado 80203 303-892-2771 February 6, 1976 Mr. Glenn Billings, Chairman Weld County Commissioners Courthouse Greeley, Colorado 80631 Dear Mr. Billings: I am writing to request that Gary Fortner serve on. a Local Planning Advisory Group to the Colorado Division of Planning, Department of Local Affairs. The Division is underway with a program intended to assist the state in development of a land use planning process, designed to obtain the greatest possible results from county, municipal, and regional planning programs. With the use of a consultant, James M. Bowers and Associates, the Division intends to prepare a land use planning guide for use by local and areawide agencies and citizens to assist them in initiating, completing, and evaluating the results of their land use plans. As a member of the Local Planning Advisory Group (LPAG) , Mr. Fortner will be used as a resource person to help guide the study efforts. This work is expected to be completed by the end of June. It is anticipated that the LPAG will meet three times and that some draft report review will be required of the members during the course of this project. The Division will pay necessary travel expenses. Mr. Fortner was selected to participate in this group because of his background and experience in dealing with land use planning matters in Colorado. We will limit the group to approximately sixteen local participants while maintaining a broad representation of munici- pal, county, and regional planners from a variety of geographic areas. This will provide the Division with an excellent source of input and direction in carrying out this important work. Mr. Fortner's participation will be very helpful in this regard. This cooperative effort between local entities and the Division of Planning will influence the land use planning carried out in regional February 6, 1976 Page 2 and local governmental agencies for years to come and will also con- tribute to the state's long-range planning management policies. The involvement of your professional representative is vital to the success of the project; your support will therefore be appreciated. V ruly urs, Betty Mi er Executi Director BM/btm 6 Hello
