SUBJECT: Bid Award for #B1300048 - CMAQ
Project 19232— DFA LNG Truck
As advertised, this bid is for one Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) truck for Dairy Farmers of
America (DFA). A mandatory pre -bid meeting was held on February 20, 2013 and bids
were submitted on April 12, 2013. Purchasing received one bid in the amount of
$226,188.00. Weld County Public Works along with DFA is recommending the bid be
awarded to MHC Kenworth in the amount of $226,188.
This project is a result of using Congestion, Mitigation, & Air Quality (CMAQ) funding
vetted through the NFR MPO and CDOT as project #19232. DFA will provide the CMAQ
17.21% matching funds for the $98,629 incremental cost difference from a Diesel truck
to an LNG truck.
This Public Private Partnership continues the efforts of the Weld Smart Energy Program
to support fleets converting their trucks to natural gas, while reducing dependency on
foreign oil and utilizing a natural resource found within the county.
