These projects often have federal funding and, therefore, must meet certain standards under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which prohibits discrimination in federally funded programs. In order to ensure that the local agencies and entities that may receive federal funding through CDOT programs are well-informed and in compliance, you are receiving this package of information. As a first step toward compliance, any local agency or entity that may apply for funding through CDOT must have a signed Title VI Assurance of Nondiscrimination on file with us. Although you may not have been required to submit an Assurance in the past, CDOT has been instructed by the United States Department of Transportation that these signed documents must be in place going forward. This is to ensure that CDOT is providing proper oversight of federal funds. Enclosed you will fmd a Title VI Assurance Form. Please review this document carefully, sign and return it to my attention.
