Earthsip Biotecture homes are houses that are almost completely self -sustainable. Instead of a family working a life time to maintain and pay off a home, the home is designed to sustain the family inside it. The homes are build of tires and cans, which are plentiful, and a free resource in any industrialized society. By using this resource, it eliminates the landfill problem we have. The tires are pounded with dirt, and stacked like bricks, creating outer walls 3 feet thick, then wrapped in insulation before stuccoed. This eliminates the heating/cooling problem low-income families have. The entire south facing side is a glass greenhouse. This eliminates the hunger and nutritional problems low- income families face. The roof is designed to capture water, which is used four times, instead of once, like traditional homes. First use is drinking/ showers/dishes, etc. Second use if to flow through the greenhouse on the south side, which produces food. The third use is to flush toilets, and the fourth use is to water the non edible outdoor landscape (all contained) before going into a traditional septic tank, by which time, hardy anything enters septic. This eliminates the water shortage problem. The inner walls are build with cans and cement, before plastering over them. These homes require almost no heating or cooling, no outside source of water, and use solar panels for electricity, so occupants can have all the modern conveniences. I have visited the Earthship community in Taos NM, and recently attended a 3 -day earthship workshop in Denver where I learned about all the systems of the home directly from Michael Reynolds, architect and inventor of the earthships.. They are truly amazing homes, and can be very simple, for a survival model, or very luxurious, such as Dennis Weavers Earthship mansion. These homes would solve so many social and economic problems for the low-income family, and I am eager to start the first one here in Weld County. Please visit Earthship.com, watch some of the earthship videos, or watch Garbage Warrior, which is about the inventor of Earthships. I would very much like to do a trial experiment of building one low-income Earthship community. Occupants could attend classes on agriculture, farming an a sustainable lifestyle, leading to true independence. If this is successful, these communities could be replicated all over the country if Weld county sets a good precedent. I have contemplated making a documentary of the process and how a self -sustainable home can change lives, and decrease or end dependance of government support. If you know of any programs that could help me fund this project, and assist me in the legal matters, please contact me at arisa@TheTimeToPray.com or 720-937-6173. Thanks you Sincerely, Arisa Rice Cornenurcca-Mims 2013-0859 Hello
