The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 30th day of September, A.D., 2013. BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WELD COUNTY, COLORADO ATTEST: Weld County Clerk to the Board Deputy C e k to the Boar ney Date of signature : 0 9 2013 EXCUSED William F. Garcia, Chair 2013-2754 EG0069 MEMORANDUM TO: Clerk to the Board DATE: September 26, 2012 FROM: Janet Carter, Public Works SUBJECT: Temporary Reduction of Speed Limits on WCR 68 A Request Resolution from the BOCC directing Public Works to install traffic regulatory signs (Speed Limit R2- 1) on WCR 68. The signs will be in place from September 25, 2013 -November 1, 2013. The Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) recommends posting the speed limit within 5 mph of the 85 percentile speed limit (Section 2B-13). Other factors such as road characteristics, roadside development, accident records, and shoulder conditions may be considered when establishing speed limits. With access to the 70 Ranch being closed and other various roadways CR 68 has been inundated with additional truck traffic. There have been numerous blow outs and the grader division has been diligently in repairing them but the speed of the traffic is making it difficult and unsafe for them to make the repairs. We have also received NUMEROUS citizen complaints about this roadway including calls from the school district. Rather than closing the roadway Public Works recommends reducing the speed limit on WCR 68 from 55 mph down to 30 mph. This will allow the grader division to make the repairs and help slow down the damage to the roadway. 2013-2754 Page - 1 - of 1 September 26, 2013 C:\Users\sbrown\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files \ContentOutlook\316RN7MX\BOCC 092612 Temp SL.DOC Hello
