I lived there, (and raised 4 very productive children) until March of 1994. The politicians from Weld County, tried everything from slander to exuberantly raising our taxes, and everything in between, to run us out of your county. Many of my friends left, saying, 'it just isn't worth the harassment'. You've heard the old saying, 'what goes around comes around'. Well apparently it is your turn, ' Weld County Politicians, government, or whatever you call yourselves'. A few of us from Aristocrat Ranchettes and Dacona looked into seceding from Weld County, into our own county, but as you are finding out, it was more than a few working people could deal with, it was 'mind boggling' to say the least. So we stayed and dealt with the harassment, that came our way from Greeley. We have always felt like the `step -child', always being ignored, by Weld county. I agree with a fellow, that spoke at the County Commissioners meeting in Ft Lupton. I hope `Greeley doesn't turn into our Denver'. While in an office of a County Planner (I believe was her title) I noticed a very large map of Aristocrat Ranchettes, on her wall. Her statement was, that was how she kept track of the goings on in that area. Another statement made from a County Commissioner was, when a new area was wanting to build up in Weld county, we don't want another Aristocrat Ranchettesl' Another time an amendment on the ballot was to raise the apAA vyA,vA ca l-owS a/-tll3 2013-2505 taxes. When we voted it down, a commissioner stated to a reporter for the Greeley Tribune, 'that amount of money, was just 'mind boggling to these people: Which was not the case, we felt the taxes were sufficient, if handled properly. Then approximately 1997, I wanted to put a larger manufactured home on my acreage, was told by a young lady, in the county office, she would not allow me to get a permit! She had looked up my record, and I was a trouble maker. I have never been incarcerated, so it was news to me, that I had a record I could go on and on with these horror stories, but I really just wanted to tell you, 'we know how you feel!' I just couldn't pass up the chance to let you all know how we felt when you all were looking down your noses at the ones of us, that came out here, because we did not belong in town, (I came from Aurora) but were not 'born with a silver spoon in our mouths!' And I am also in favor of seceding from Colorado, into the 51" state, North Colorado. This governor and the last governor, is and was the governor of Denver, and is not going to change, in my opinion. I believe he will promise us the moon, so as not to loose the tax money the rural counties are sending him, but will 'give us more of the same'. Our farmers are being hit the hardest, in my opinion, and if they can't grow they're crops, we all loose. Sincerely, Jenny Turley PS. You can call me, if you have any questions. My phone number is in the heading. 2 Hello
