Rivers such as the St. Vrain, Boulder Creek, Big Thompson, Little Thompson, South Platte and Cache la Poudre swelled and jumped their banks, carving new courses through farmland and neighborhoods that will be forever changed, and inflicting unthinkable physical, human and emotional toll on our community; and WHEREAS, there were more than 654 lane miles of roads; 122 bridge structures and over 80 irrigation structures impacted by the flooding causing impassable, closed roadways; long detours and eliminating access to several communities and severely hampering farmers attempting to harvest their crops. NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of County Commissioners does hereby honor and recognize Douglas County Commissioners and several of their employees who gave selflessly of their time to lend a hand and restore areas devastated most hard hit by the flooding. The assistance brought a "ray of sunshine" and strengthened our resolve to our citizens in a time of need. Hello
