To Whom It May Concern:
We moved into our home just short of three years ago hoping to turn this fixer -upper into a place we
could call home. We loved the location on a dead end road with little to no traffic, our closest neighbor
being a quarter mile away. This is our first home in which we had to borrow money for the down
payment. This house isn't perfect, but has now become our home. We have spent countless hours, and
our hard earned money making it into something we love. A place to call home! We've had dreams of
starting a family here; where we can raise children in a safe quiet place. "!g First" is what Weld County
is known for, how can I feel safe letting children play outside knowing there is constant truck traffic?
It hasn't even been three years, and we are being told that our home will be surrounded by an Industrial
Park. Before we purchased our property we asked what the future plans may be, and this wasn't it.
Now it seems someone's word means nothing. With the rezoning plan our property value will be little
to nothing as it stands now. Our only hope to get out of it what we have put in would be to try to sell to
a commercial buyer. If we say Weld County is "!g First" how does this plan fit in? With large businesses
being built all the way around us there is the potential for theft and unwanted traffic on our property.
In the proposal it states "the rezoning plan is consistent with its current surroundings." Please explain to
us how you believe this is true. Section 27-6-70 #2 is completely opposite to what Chapter 22 states.
The way the proposal looks is not at all consistent with that current surrounds, other than the Air Port.
With this rezoning plan how do you expect us to be able to live the lives we've planned? Recently the
Air Port has rented out their water supply which has caused a tremendous amount of traffic on our
road. The noise alone has been terrible. They speed up and down our road all hours of the night, and
then use their Jake Brakes to slow down. This has been enough for us to adjust to, and now you are
telling us this is only the beginning! How will the new plan affect our water and electricity? Will we ever
have to go without while this plan comes together? Will there be traffic rules they must abide by, such
as signs with speed limits and no Jake Brakes? How will you ensure our drives way will not be blocked
by the traffic? Will there be any noise mitigation they must follow? We have animals that are already
affected by the dust the new traffic has caused, and we can only imagine it will continue to get worse.
In the plan it speaks about Retention Ponds; how will the mosquitos by controlled? This will only
increase the risk of West Nile which will not only affect our animals but us as well.
In closing we are completely against this new plan for the Industrial Park. This will change our lives
completely! Weld County's first priority is supposed to be !g, but this is the furthest from that. This
plan is discouraging to us and potential first time home buyers. It shows that if you have enough money
to persuade others with money they change their whole outlook. Explain to us what our plans should be
going forward.
