Dear County Commissioners:
The purpose of this letter is to discuss the contraceptive actions of Plan B which is a
current matter of interest in your meetings. This letter is brief and to the point.
Plan B is a contraceptive method that does not cause abortions, and in fact prevents
abortions as do other types of contraception. When one considers the high rate of
unplanned pregnancy in the United States (50-60% of millions of pregnancies) from my
perspective it seems highly reasonable to have a back up method to prevent pregnancies
and abortions.
It is obvious that these issues may be rendered into a political area with distortion and
misinformation depending on one's perspective, but the biologic facts are clear. Plan B is
safe and prevents unwanted pregnancies and abortions.
Science and data should prevail over politics for the health of our women.
