Ed Dunbar, County Commissioner
Dear Sir:
In reference to your letter of August 24, 1978 explaining
the use of Conservation Trust Fund money for incorporated towns
use.
The town of Raymer would like to submit a request for im—
provement in our town park. Since we now have a town water system,
we recently installed an underground water system in the park. \ e
have a large tractor and mower for use in weed control, but we
would like to make a request for a riding tractor and mower for
park use only. Also, we would like to build a 10 foot by 20 foot
shaded picnic shelter that would accommodate 2 or maybe 3 picnic
tables.
We have $118 in State Conservation Trust Fund money to apply
towards this project or the tables we need. Estimates on a 14 horse
tractor with mower are around $2,600 to $2,800. Shelter estimates
for material only, without concrete floor, are around $400 to $450.
A corrugated tin roof, which would be more lasting would run higher.
Your letter stated that you need to know what portion of the
request the county is being asked to fund. Since we put in the
sprinkler system, we do not have any money to apply to this request.
We understand this is not a matching fund program. Also, that we
are not obligated to finish the project or participate in the program
if we do not get the amount needed.
The firms we inquired with about the tractors end mowers did
tell us that if we proceeded with the program, we would be eligible
for generous discounts on the above prices.
Contact me at 437-5336 if you need more information.
Sincerely,
Pauline Steffen,
Raymer trustee

RE: Conservation Trust Fund
Ed Dunbar:
We're sorry for the lateness of this response, but it appears your letter
concerning the Conservation Fund was misplaced. We feel fortunate that the
Commissioners brought it to our attention, hopefully, in time.
We have stipulated a Hudson Conservation Trust Fund in our budget for 1979,
and immediately posted $100 in it for future new park ground; hoping to
add more funds to it as we can. The Council have felt a need for park
designated land for sometime, as our present park is situated on private
land which may be used for development soon. If a suitable location can be
found, I would estimate the land cost alone to be in the neighborhood of
35,000. A park in Hudson that everyone could use and call their own is
very desireable.
I shall be happy to submit more information as it is required.IeRectfully /

Dear Mrs. Steinmark and Gentlemen:
The Town of Platteville has a project for a new all-purpose community recrea-
tion building for which it is requesting County Conservation Trust Funds.
We feel that this building is necessary to carry out the civic programs that
now do not have adequate or safe meeting facilities. These civic organiza-
tions are: Lion's Club, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Programs for the Senior
Citizens, 4-H Clubs, Chamber of Commerce, Church Organizations, five social
clubs and craft clubs. ,Many of these organizations are currently using the
basement; o"f ;t}te:tbwht4 tib .ry building which we consider unsafe for public
meetings as it has very stetp.,stairs, only one exit, no central heating
system and was designed as .aterage room. The present community building
does not meet these requirete ae'tt is in the central business district,
has no adequate parking facilities, entrances are such that they cannot safely
be remodeled with ramps for those who cannot negotiate steps, and not large
enough to accommodate all activities.
Our plan would be to construct this facility on land:in ogre sef,9pr.Alts,
preferrably Lincoln Park as it has water and sewer fadilities available'.
The Town of Platteville has' 6udgeted for 1919 $5,000,for a community building.
We also have a bu}l ng,with'lots for sale we anticipbre ,bringing an.estimated
$10,000 that will also be placed towards the community building. The Town
also has on hand sd1e materials for 'furnishing the building valued at $3,000.
These items include:carpeting, cabinets, cook stove, sinks, tables, chairs,
light. ;fixtures, eta_
Estimated:cost of community building -$ 35',000
Less'-estimated revenues, etc.'
Sales of building & lots $ 10,000
Budgeted 1979 5,000
,.Materials on hand 3,000
Total estimated revenues 18,000
17,000
Less amount of our Conservation Trust Fund 660
