RE: APPROVE REQUEST FOR TWO-YEAR EXTENSION OF COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT
AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Board has been presented with a Request for a Two -Year Extension of
the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Economic Development Agreement
#F11 CDB11582, from the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Department of Finance and Administration, to
the Colorado Department of Local Affairs, with further terms and conditions being as stated in said
request, and
WHEREAS, after review, the Board deems it advisable to approve said request, a copy of
which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the Request for a Two -Year Extension of the Community Development
Block Grant (CDBG) Economic Development Agreement #F11CDB11582, from the County of
Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on
behalf of the Department of Finance and Administration, to the Colorado Department of Local
Affairs be, and hereby is, approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the Chair be, and hereby is, authorized to
sign said request.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 1st day of May, A.D., 2013.

Re: Extension Request: CDBG Agreement #F12CDB11-582 for Weld County
Dear Mr. Todd:
The purpose of this letter is to request a two-year extension of Grant Agreement #11-582 between
the State of Colorado and Weld County. The agreement is set to expire May 31, 2013.
The reason we are requesting the extension is to complete three transactions currently in process.
One transaction in the amount of $500,000.00 has been approved; however, funding will not occur
prior to the expiration date of our contract. A second request in the amount of $304,000.00 has been
submitted to your office; however, it is currently on hold pending clarification of additional
information. Finally, a third transaction in the amount of $400,000.00 should be processed within
the next 60 days.
The completion of the three pending projects will add over 170 jobs to Weld and Larimer counties
and will contribute significantly to the tax base. Two of the companies are small manufacturing
companies and one of those will support green energy.
We appreciate the support received from the State and look forward to fully utilizing CDBG
resources to expand job growth opportunities in Northern Colorado. Please give me a call if you
